The Octonauts and the Skeleton Coast Adventure

Hey there, adventurers! Are you ready for a fun story about the Octonauts? Let’s dive in!

Stormy Seas

The Octonauts are a team of brave explorers who love to help animals. One day, they were sailing on the ocean when a big storm hit. Captain Barnacles asked Tweak for more engine power to keep them safe. But oh no, a huge wave was coming their way!

After the wave hit, everyone was okay, but they noticed their drinking water was leaking. They quickly grabbed buckets to save the water because ocean water is too salty to drink!

The Skeleton Coast

The Octonauts found themselves on the Skeleton Coast, a place where many ships get stuck after storms. They needed to fix their ship, the Octopod, and get it back into the water.

Tweak had a clever idea to turn the Octopod’s arms into legs so it could walk back to the ocean. The team worked together to make it happen!

A New Friend

While working, they met Paani, who needed water for thirsty animals in the desert. The Octonauts decided to help him. They used their special vehicle, the Gup-X, to travel across the hot sand.

Helping Thirsty Animals

When they reached the water hole, it was dry! The animals were very thirsty. But the Octonauts had brought water to share. They gave the animals a drink, but they needed more rain to fill the water hole.

A Rainy Surprise

Just when things seemed tough, rain clouds appeared! The Octonauts helped the animals move to where the rain was falling. Everyone was happy and safe.

Teamwork Saves the Day

Thanks to the Octonauts and Paani, the animals got the water they needed. They all worked together to make sure everyone was okay.

Back to the Octopod

After their adventure, the Octonauts returned to their ship. Tweak fixed it up, and they were ready for more exploring. They even added new friends to their team to help them on future adventures!

The Octonauts are always ready to explore, rescue, and protect. No matter where they are needed, they will be there to help!

Wasn’t that a fun story? Remember, teamwork and helping others can make a big difference!

  1. What do you think it would be like to be an Octonaut and explore the ocean? What kinds of animals or places would you like to discover?
  2. Have you ever helped someone or worked together with friends to solve a problem? What did you do, and how did it make you feel?
  3. Why do you think it’s important to help animals and take care of the environment? Can you think of ways we can help animals in our own neighborhoods?
  1. Build Your Own Octopod: Gather some craft materials like cardboard, paper cups, and pipe cleaners. Work with a friend or family member to create your own version of the Octopod. Think about how you can make it move like Tweak did in the story. Can you make the arms into legs? Once you’re done, share your creation and explain how it works!

  2. Water Conservation Experiment: Just like the Octonauts saved water, you can learn about saving water at home. With the help of an adult, measure how much water you use when brushing your teeth with the tap running. Then, try it again by turning off the tap while brushing. How much water did you save? Discuss why saving water is important and how you can help at home.

  3. Rainy Day Observation: Next time it rains, put on your raincoat and go outside with an adult. Observe how the rainwater flows and where it collects. Can you find any puddles? Imagine you are an Octonaut helping animals find water. How would you guide them to the rainwater? Draw a picture of your adventure and share it with your class.

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Octo-Agents, please report. – Explore! – Rescue! Protect! Octonauts! Above and Beyond. The Octonauts and the Skeleton Coast Adventure.

Tweak, I need a little more engine power. You got it, Cap! Thanks. Hold tight, everyone! We’re being tossed about like a ball of yarn in a sea of cats!

Phew! Dashi, can you check the storm tracker? Does it look like this storm will be over soon? I’m afraid not, captain. Now there’s a huge wave headed straight for us. Uh-oh! Octonauts, brace for impact!

Octonauts, is everyone all right? Report, please. That was a wild ride, captain. No one hurt in HQ. Cap, come quick. Our drinking water is leaking. Octonauts, grab a bucket… or a boot. Grab what you can and let’s save our drinking water.

All that water in the ocean and we can’t drink it. Ocean water is too salty to drink. It would make us sick. And there’s a desert on the other side of us, so every drop of drinking water is precious.

Things are definitely looking up. We’re not the first to be shipwrecked here on the dreaded Skeleton Coast, matey. The “Skeleton Coast”? Is it really called that? Actually, Kwazii’s right. It is called the Skeleton Coast because of all the ships that get stuck here after a storm.

Oh, no. I hope we’re not stuck. Don’t worry. We’ll get the Octopod back in the water. Come on. Good work, Octonauts! Now that we’ve set up a water station, let’s get to work on the Octopod.

Well, Cap, the good news is I can patch that crack in the side faster than you can say, “sandy carrots.” What’s the bad news? The bad news is that I’m not sure yet how to get the Octopod off the sand and back into the water.

Don’t worry, Tunip. I’m sure Tweak will reattach all the pods. Or maybe we don’t reattach the pods. Or not yet anyway. Cap, if I could turn these arms into legs… We could walk the Octopod off the beach back into the ocean. Exactly!

First, I’ll patch that leak. The rest of us will attach ropes to these arms so we can pull them into a walking position when you’re ready. Octonauts, let’s do this!

I wonder which one of these is the start button. Now, attach these ropes to the arm of the game pod. Vegimals, start with the arm of the garden pod. Kwazii, Peso, we’ll handle the– What’s that?

It’s the Gup-H and someone’s at the controls. Stop! Please return our gup! Sorry! It’s an emergency. Hey, I’m getting the hang of this. Uh-oh!

I’m not stealing your helicopter, I’m just borrowing it. The name’s Paani and– And you’re taking our water! It’s not for me, I’m taking it to– Do you know how to fly this thing? Not really. Do you? Not really. But that’s never stopped me before!

The Gup-H keeps tipping downward! Uh-oh! Maybe the water is too heavy a load! Brace yourself! You crashed us! We were already crashing. I made an emergency landing.

Are you hurt? We’re fine, matey. Captain Barnacles, Peso, this is… Where’d he go? There he is! This is Paani, the one who took our water.

All right, Paani, just tell us what’s going on. Now I have to figure out another way to deliver this water to some thirsty animals. They won’t survive without it. “Thirsty animals”?

Why didn’t you say so in the first place? You never asked. We are the Octonauts. It’s our job to help all animals, wherever they are. Okay, fine. They’re all coming to this water hole in the desert.

Doesn’t a water hole already have water in it? It should, but it doesn’t. At least not right now. Oh, dear. But why not? The water hole needs rain to fill it up, but it hasn’t rained in a very long time.

So there’s nothing. Not a drop. Animals in the desert travel a long way to get water. If it’s dry, they might not be able to find water anywhere else. No animal can survive very long without water.

You’re quite an expert on this water crisis. Oh, thanks. It’s what I do. I’m a hydrologist. A hydrolo-what? A hydrologist. A scientist who studies water. Exactly. I go with the flow. Water doesn’t stay in one place.

Oh, no. It can appear here and disappear there. Right now, it’s disappeared just when the animals really need it. We’re happy to share our water. And we’ll help you deliver it.

I appreciate your offer, but how can you help? You’re shipwrecked. And he crashed your helicopter. Emergency landing. We are the Octonauts, Paani. We always find a way to help.

Octonauts, to the water station! Octonauts, meet Paani. We need to help him deliver water to some thirsty animals and we have to travel across the desert to do it.

We don’t usually cross deserts, but I think I know just the gup for the job! The Gup-X is my toughest gup! Tough enough for this desert? To tell you the truth, we’ve never tested these tire treads on hot desert sand.

We’ll just have to do our best. Kwazii, Peso, and Dashi, you’re with Paani and me. Tweak, the rest of the team’s with you here at the Octopod. Octonauts, to the desert!

Oh, dear. What’s that noise? We’ve got some sand in the gears, but so far, so good. This water that we’re bringing to the animals will help, but what we really need is some rain to fill up that water hole.

Let’s check the storm tracker. Good idea, Dashi. Maybe there’s some rain headed our way. I guess that storm that crashed the Octopod at sea didn’t make it to the desert. Nope, nothing.

I’ll keep an eye on the storm tracker; things can change fast. Looks like the water hole is just ahead. And a good thing, too, because the Gup-X sounds like it’s about to give out, Cap.

If you’re looking for water, you’re out of luck. There’s none to be found here. Not even a little bit to dip your beak in. Don’t worry. We brought some water for you.

In that case, it’s nice to meet ya. We made it… barely. We sure are thirsty. We haven’t had any water in days. We’ve more than enough water for a few little birdies. Your water worries are over.

Uh-oh, drink up, fellas, because here come the elephants. “Elephants”? Elephants! Are we there yet? Almost, little one. I can’t wait! This is my first time at the watering hole.

I’m gonna take a big drink of water, then I’m going to splash around and wash off all this sand, and then I’m going to cool off in the mud, and then I’m– Why are we stopping here? I don’t see any water.

Mabel! Paani! It’s so good to see you again. These are my new friends, the Octonauts. Hello! Nice to meet you. Any friend of Paani’s is a friend of mine. Mabel and I go way back.

I’m so thirsty! Hold on, give me a moment. What’s she doing? Elephants from the desert can smell water that’s hidden underground and then dig for it with their trunks. That’s a nifty trick.

Oh, dear, this area is completely dry! I don’t smell any water hidden under the ground at all. Well, thanks to Paani, we’ve brought you some water. But I’m afraid there’s only enough for everyone to have one drink.

That’s better than nothing. Form a line, everyone! And only half a trunk full per elephant, please, so there’s enough to go around. You go first, but take it slow and easy.

You’re still learning how to use your tongue for drinking. Maybe you’d like some help? I can do this by myself. First, I’ll use my trunk to suck up the water, then I use it to squirt the water into my mouth. Just watch! Oops, I missed my mouth.

We’re still thirsty. Rest for a bit and then we’ll have to keep searching for water. But we’ve already walked for days. I’m too tired to keep going. I’m exhausted!

Everyone, please calm down. Follow my lead. I feel dizzy! Being too thirsty for too long can make you feel sick and dizzy. You need to rest; we’ll find you some water.

We need to find more water, too. But being thirsty makes us so exhausted. Ha! Tell me about it. I know how to sniff and dig. I’ll find water for everyone and I’ll do it all by myself.

Captain, Paani, there’s something new showing up on the storm tracker. Look! Rain clouds. These ones don’t seem to be going away. It looks like it will rain way over there but not here.

If the water won’t come to the animals, then we’ll just have to bring the animals to the water. But how? They’re too tired and thirsty to make it that far. – Barnacles to Tweak. – Hiya, Cap.

Tweak, is the Octopod on her feet yet? Yep. But, Cap, I can’t guarantee that this is gonna work. We won’t know until we try. Attention, everyone. It looks like the rain’s not coming to us.

So we’re going to take all of you to the rain. What’s big enough to carry a herd of elephants? That. Flappity flippers! Am I seeing what I think I’m seeing?

Yah! She’s a beautiful sight, ain’t she, captain? Indeed she is. Hello, down there. Hold on, we’re missing our little one. Oh, no. Are you sure? I’m sure!

But where would he go? These look like his tracks and they lead out into the desert. Oh, no, he’s wandered away. I have to find him… Just as soon as I get over this dizzy spell.

You need to rest. Captain, I’ll find him. If you don’t mind me saying, I think you should go on without me. These animals need water, and fast. Agreed. Find the baby elephant, radio us, and we’ll pick you up.

Good luck, Peso. Here, take this. There’s only a few sips of water left, but it’s better than nothing. Thanks, Paani. I better get going. There’s no time to waste.

Don’t worry! I’ll find your little one. Oh, no! The wind is blowing away the elephant tracks. There he is! Hello! Hello! Hello? Stay right there.

Peso to Captain Barnacles. Go ahead, Peso! Captain, I found the baby elephant. Oh, good work, Peso. We’ll pick you up as soon as we– Sorry, captain, we’ve lost him. It’s probably because of the sand.

Understood. Keep trying. Captain, are you there? Captain? Oh, no, the radio’s not working. Flappity flippers! It’s a sandstorm! Hold on! I’m coming up! Or you could come down. That works, too.

Ouch! I’m getting sand in my eyes! There. That should protect your eyes. Thanks, that’s better. This should work for me just fine. And have a little water, too.

All we have to do is wait for the sandstorm to pass. – Here, hold my flipper. – Thank you. Captain, look! It’s a sandstorm. Steady as she goes. Cap, I’m not sure how steady she can go under these conditions.

Looks like one of the legs is jammed up with sand! Then I’ll go and un-jam it! Paani, any ideas about how to– Paani? Where’d he go? Kwazii, do you– Kwazii? Oh. Gotta get all the sand out! There!

You could’ve asked me to help! I didn’t think I’d need it, but thanks. Kwazii to Captain Barnacles. Paani’s got the Octopod fixed up, and I’ve got Paani. We’re good to go.

Excellent work. Let’s move! We made it, Tweak. The Octopod gave it her all. Good news, everyone! We’ve arrived at the water hole. Hooray!

It looks like these clouds aren’t going away anytime soon, right, Paani? It should rain any moment now. But where’s Peso and my little one? I’m keeping an eye out for him.

Dashi, keep trying to get Peso on the radio. – Captain, look! – Mum! My little one! First, Peso found me and then he protected me from a sandstorm. And then I thought I smelled rain, so we followed the smell until we saw the clouds.

And that’s how we found you! I’m so happy you’re back. Thank you, Peso. We were a good team. He’s a very brave elephant. It’s finally, officially raining!

Well, Paani, it looks like there’s now a new water hole in the desert. These animals would never have made it here without your help. I couldn’t have done it alone.

And we could never have done it without you, Paani. That’s why I think we should work together from now on. I appreciate the offer, but I’m no Octonaut. I like to go with the flow and follow the water on land.

Of course, but, um, what if you could call upon us whenever you find something bigger than you can handle all by yourself? Now, that would come in handy, I have to admit.

Well, Cap, we sure got a big job ahead of us fixing up the Octopod. And I’ve got an idea that’ll make our job even bigger! Octonauts, welcome back to the Octopod. Tweak, you’ve made it as good as new.

Aw, thank you. Ah, it’s good to be back. Captain, I’m ready to explore! Rescue! Protect! And to help us do that, we’re adding eyes, ears, whiskers, and paws from around the world.

Ready to test the Octo-Agent Alert System? Ready, Cap! Calling all Octo-Agents. This is Captain Barnacles. Report, please. Paani here. Pearl here. Tracker here. Min here. Natquik here. Ranger Marsh present and accounted for. Calico Jack’s here, mateys. And Pete, too.

Hold on, captain. This is amazing, but where’s Dashi? Good question. Activate the Octoray. I’m on it, captain. No matter who needs us, from the beach to the desert, from the bottom of the ocean to the top of a mountain, we’ll be there.

Octonauts, let’s do this!
