The Short A Sound

The letter A can make a short sound, like in the word “apple.” Imagine biting into a juicy apple. That’s the short A sound!

The Long A Sound

A can also make a long sound, like in the word “ape.” Picture an ape munching on an apple. That’s the long A sound!

Isn’t it cool how one letter can sound different? Now you know that the letter A can sound like “apple” or “ape.” Keep practicing, and you’ll become a vowel expert in no time!

  • Can you think of other words that have the short A sound, like in “apple”? What about words with the long A sound, like in “ape”? Share your words with a friend or family member!
