Hello, friends! I’m Ranma, and I’m here with my buddy Toby. Today, we’re going to have a fun story time with our friends Ron, Luca, and Craig. Are you ready to join us? Let’s have some fun!
Today, we’re reading a book called “Trick or Treat Countdown” by Patricia Hubbard, with pictures by Michael Letzig. It’s all about Halloween, a time when we dress up and have fun!
Let’s count together with the story:
Remember, all these spooky things are just pretend! They’re make-believe, which means they’re not real. It’s all part of the Halloween fun!
Let’s keep counting:
Isn’t Halloween exciting? It’s all about dressing up and having a good time. Remember, it’s all make-believe, so there’s nothing to be scared of!
Let’s finish our counting:
All these creatures are just pretend for Halloween! It’s a time to be silly and have fun with friends.
Halloween is a special time when we can dress up and pretend to be anything we want. Whether it’s a ghost, a witch, or a superhero, it’s all about having fun and using our imagination!
So, are you ready for Halloween? What will you dress up as? Remember, it’s all make-believe, so there’s nothing to be scared of. Let’s enjoy the spooky, silly fun together!
Thanks for joining us for story time. We can’t wait to see you next time. Happy Halloween!
Counting Adventure: Go on a Halloween counting adventure in your home or classroom! Look for objects that remind you of the story, like pumpkins, leaves, or anything spooky. Count how many you can find and write the numbers down. Can you find up to twelve like in the story?
Make-Believe Parade: Create your own make-believe Halloween parade! Dress up as your favorite character from the story or invent your own spooky character. Walk around and make the sounds from the story, like “cackle” or “howl.” Invite your friends or family to join in and see how many different sounds you can make together!
Imagination Drawing: Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story. Was it the haunted house, the jack-o’-lanterns, or maybe the whispering ghosts? Use your imagination to add more details to your drawing. What other pretend creatures can you think of to add to your Halloween scene?

One haunted house groans,
Two tall tombstones moan,
Three green witches cackle,
Four dead leaves crackle.
Haunted houses and witches, all make-believe on Halloween!
Okay, there are witches cackling and leaves crackling. It can be a little scary, but it’s fun because it’s Halloween!
No, Craig, it’s not just fun; it can be real and scary.
No, it’s all make-believe on Halloween. It’s just pretend!
As long as I don’t believe it, right?
Okay, I don’t believe it.
What do you believe?
Nope, I don’t believe!
Five jack-o’-lanterns gleam,
Six scary skeletons scream,
Seven ghosts whisper,
Eight goblins shout “Boo!”
All make-believe on Halloween!
Isn’t Halloween fun?
He’s terrified!
Remember, it’s all make-believe. If you don’t believe in it, then it’s not real.
Okay, why are you covering your face?
I can see the ghosts coming for me!
What was that?
It was a sound you made!
I don’t believe that; I believe it was a ghost!
It’s supposed to be fun, right?
Nine mean monsters prowl,
Ten hairy werewolves howl,
Eleven black bats glide,
Twelve creeping cats hide.
[Music]
Werewolves, bats, and monsters are all make-believe on Halloween!
How did they know I was allergic to cats?
They didn’t; it’s just a book! It’s supposed to be fun. Halloween can be creepy and silly at the same time.
There’s nothing silly about getting an allergy attack!
Dragons sneezing my whole night away is not make-believe!
What should I do?
There’s literally not a cat here!
I don’t believe that!
Twelve hide, eleven glide, ten howl, nine scream,
Eight cackle, seven moan, six groan, one shiver.
All make-believe on Halloween!
Okay, Ryan, I want you to remain calm. Take a deep breath.
You’re not scared anymore, right?
Craig, if you look at it, it’s just kids dressing up in costumes. There’s nothing to be scared of!
Are you okay?
Yeah, right!
He’s panicking the whole time!
He is so scared!
Did he cover his eyes?
He doesn’t cover his eyes!
Ryan, those are literally all the things you did!
Yeah, Craig, Halloween is all make-believe!
I can’t wait for October 31st! I think I’m going to be a ghost!
You’re really hard to keep up with!
