Welcome to the magical world of Unicorn and Horse! Unicorn is a special creature with a shiny sapphire horn, a silver coat, a rainbow mane, and sparkling white teeth. Horse, on the other hand, is not quite as colorful. Unicorn loves to eat pink cupcakes for every meal, while Horse prefers something else. Unicorn can make rainbows, but Horse makes different things.
Unicorn loves to dance and spread cheer everywhere he goes. All the animals adore Unicorn. Squirrel plays ring toss with Unicorn’s horn, and Bird uses Unicorn’s beautiful hair to line her nest. Everyone enjoys sharing Unicorn’s cupcakes.
Unicorn asked Horse to join the fun, but Horse said, “No, I don’t like you.” What Horse really meant was, “I wish I were you.”
One night, two men sneaked into Unicorn’s home and took him away in a truck. The other animals woke up and tried to help. Squirrel couldn’t run fast enough, Bird couldn’t fly fast enough, Fox couldn’t run on the road, and Turtle couldn’t run at all.
But Horse had an idea! He ran as fast as he could and used his big teeth to free Unicorn from the ropes.
“Thank you,” said Unicorn. “You’re welcome,” said Horse.
Now, Horse and Unicorn are great friends. Sometimes Horse eats cupcakes, and sometimes Unicorn eats hay. They both enjoy different things, like races and ring toss, but most importantly, they enjoy being friends. Friendship is better than anything, even pink cupcakes!

This is Unicorn and this is Horse. Unicorn is a unicorn and Horse is, well, not. Unicorn has a sapphire horn, a silver coat, a rainbow mane, and perfect white teeth. Horse does not. Unicorn eats pink cupcakes for every meal; Horse does not. Unicorn makes rainbows; Horse makes something else.
Unicorn dances, while Horse sits grumpy. Unicorn makes everything cheery, really cheery. All the animals love Unicorn. He has a horn for the squirrel to play ring toss, and the bird lines her nest with his long, beautiful hair. Everyone loves sharing his cupcakes.
“Won’t you join us?” said Unicorn. “No, I don’t like you,” said Horse. But what he meant was, “I wish I were you.”
Unfortunately, not everyone who heard about Unicorn was happy. A rainbow dancing unicorn who eats cupcakes for breakfast could make someone a lot of money. One night, while everyone was asleep, two men crept into Unicorn’s paddock as quietly as they could. They tied a startled Unicorn in ropes and loaded him into the back of their truck.
The other animals awoke when they heard the truck. “Hurry! They’re stealing Unicorn!” But Squirrel said, “I can’t run fast enough to catch them,” and Bird cried, “I can’t fly fast enough!” Fox said, “I can’t run on the road,” and Turtle said, “I can’t run at all.”
Only one animal could help. Horse thought and thought, and then he ran and ran. With six great chomps of Horse’s large teeth, Unicorn was free.
“Thank you,” said Unicorn. “You’re welcome,” said Horse.
This is Horse and this is Unicorn. Sometimes Horse eats cupcakes, and sometimes Unicorn eats hay. Sometimes Horse makes rainbows, and sometimes Unicorn does not. Horse likes races; Unicorn likes ring toss. But most of all, they like each other. Horse and Unicorn are friends, and that’s better than anything, even pink cupcakes.

What’s better than pink cupcakes? Friendship! But cupcakes are pretty good.
Today, we’re going to show you how to make pink cupcakes at home. You’re going to want your grown-ups to help make these delicious treats. Here’s what you’ll need:
– 1 cup of softened butter
– 1 and a quarter cups of sugar
– Pink food coloring
– 3 large eggs (room temperature)
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 2 and a half cups of all-purpose flour
– 1 and a half teaspoons of baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
– 1 cup of buttermilk
– Pink sprinkles
– Frosting
Step 1: Wash your hands with soap and water. It’s always a good idea to wash your hands before you bake.
Step 2: Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This will take about five to seven minutes. For little kids, have your grown-ups assist you with the hand mixer.
Step 3: Add eggs and vanilla. Always add eggs one at a time and try not to get an eggshell in it. If you do, try to remove it carefully.
Step 4: Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
Step 5: Mix everything together and add the buttermilk.
Step 6: Fill your muffin tins. Make sure to either use butter on the pan or use lining tins so that they don’t stick. Fill them about two-thirds of the way so they won’t overflow.
Step 7: Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Step 8: Allow your cupcakes to cool. While they’re cooling, add the pink food coloring to your frosting and mix.
Step 9: Decorate!
Now you have your unicorn cupcakes! While you’re enjoying these delicious treats, check out books. If you don’t have books, then what are you waiting for? It’s a kid-safe, ad-free library full of storybooks brought to life. Ask your grown-up and start exploring more fun stories like these.
See you next time! Bye-bye!
