Hello friends! Today, we’re going to learn some fun action words. These are words that tell us what we do. Are you ready to start? Let’s go!

Cook

Imagine a chef making yummy food. We call this cooking. Can you say it with me? Cook!

Study

Clara is reading her books to learn. This is called studying. Let’s say it together: Study!

Dance

Luke is moving to the music. This is dancing. Say it with me: Dance!

Look

Gloria is using her eyes to see her coat. This is looking. Can you say it? Look!

Talk

Allen is using his mouth to speak with Steve. This is talking. Repeat after me: Talk!

Draw

Joey is making a picture of a house. This is drawing. Let’s say it together: Draw!

Smile

The girl is happy and showing her teeth. This is smiling. Can you say it? Smile!

  2. Verb Hunt: Go on a verb hunt around your home or classroom. Look for people doing actions like cooking, studying, or smiling. When you find someone, say the action word out loud. You can even draw a picture of what you see and write the action word underneath it.

  3. Create an Action Story: Use the action words to create a short story. For example, “Joey was cooking in the kitchen when he heard music. He started to dance and then decided to sing along.” Draw pictures to go with your story and share it with your friends or family.
