How to Check Student Progress in Khan Academy Kids

Welcome to a guide on how to see how students are doing in the Khan Academy Kids app! This app is a great tool for learning, and it’s important to know how to track progress. To do this, you’ll need a class account. If you don’t have one yet, check the app’s description for more information.

Viewing Progress for One Student

First, make sure you’re in the teacher view and on the students tab. To see how one student is doing, just tap their name. You’ll see two options at the top: assignments and all progress.

Assignments: This shows all the lessons you’ve given to the student. You can see which lessons they haven’t finished and their scores for the ones they’ve tried.

All Progress: This report shows scores for every lesson the student has tried, whether it’s from assignments, their learning path, or something they picked from the library. A green check mark means they did really well, scoring between 80-100%.

Viewing Progress for the Whole Class

To see how the entire class is doing, go back to the students tab and tap the class reports button. You’ll see the same two options: assignments and all progress.

Assignments: This shows all the lessons you’ve given to all students. You can quickly see who finished their assignments. You can also edit or reassign lessons from here.

All Progress: This gives an overview of every lesson all students have tried. It helps teachers see where students are doing well and where they might need more help. You can also assign new lessons directly from this report if a student needs extra practice.

Extra Features

You can email both the assignments and all progress reports. If you have an email app on your device, just tap the email button to send the report to yourself or a parent. Make sure to filter the report to show only one student’s progress before sending it.

If you have any questions about checking student progress, feel free to email Khan Kids at [email protected]. Happy teaching!

  • Have you ever used an app or a tool to learn something new? What was it, and how did it help you learn?
  • Imagine you are a teacher for a day. How would you like to check if your students are learning well? What fun ways can you think of to help them if they need more practice?
  • Why do you think it’s important for teachers to know how their students are doing in their lessons? How can this help both the teacher and the students?
  1. Progress Detective: Become a detective and track your own progress in a fun way! Create a simple chart at home or in class. Each time you complete a lesson or activity, color in a box or add a sticker to your chart. Discuss with your parents or teacher how you felt about each lesson. Did you find it easy or challenging? What did you learn? This helps you see how much you’ve accomplished and what you might want to practice more.

  2. Learning Path Adventure: Imagine you are on a learning adventure! Choose a topic you enjoy from the Khan Academy Kids app and explore it further. Draw a map of your learning journey, marking each lesson as a stop along the way. At each stop, write or draw something new you learned. Share your adventure map with a friend or family member and explain your favorite parts of the journey.

  3. Classroom Helpers: Work with your classmates to create a “Classroom Helpers” board. Each student can pick a subject or lesson they feel confident in and become a helper for that topic. When someone needs help, they can look at the board and ask a helper for guidance. This encourages teamwork and helps everyone learn from each other. Discuss with your teacher how you can track and celebrate the progress of the whole class together.
