The lesson encourages students to observe the weather around them and appreciate the variety of experiences each day brings.
  1. What do you like to do on a sunny day?
  2. Can you tell me what happens on a rainy day?
  3. What fun things can you do when it snows?

Let’s Talk About the Weather!

Sunny Days

Have you ever seen the sun shining bright in the sky? That’s what we call a sunny day! On sunny days, the sky is blue, and the sun makes everything warm and bright. It’s a great time to play outside and have fun!

Cloudy Days

Sometimes, the sky is covered with big, fluffy clouds. This is called a cloudy day. The sun hides behind the clouds, and it might feel a little cooler. Cloudy days are perfect for imagining shapes in the clouds!

Rainy Days

When the clouds get dark and heavy, they might start to drop raindrops. This is a rainy day! You might need an umbrella or a raincoat to stay dry. Rainy days help plants grow and make puddles to splash in!

Snowy Days

When it’s really cold, the rain turns into snowflakes. This is a snowy day! Everything turns white and fluffy. You can build a snowman or have a snowball fight. Snowy days are so much fun!

What’s the Weather Like Today?

Now that we know about sunny, cloudy, rainy, and snowy days, let’s look outside. What do you see? Is it sunny, cloudy, rainy, or snowy? Every day is a new weather adventure!

Thanks for Learning with Us!

Thanks for joining us to learn about the weather. Keep exploring and have fun with the weather every day. See you next time!

  • What is your favorite kind of weather, and why do you like it? Can you think of a fun activity you enjoy doing in that weather?
  • Have you ever noticed how the weather changes throughout the day? What differences do you see in the morning, afternoon, and evening?
  • Can you remember a time when the weather surprised you? Maybe it started raining when you didn’t expect it, or it snowed when you thought it would be sunny. How did it make you feel?
  1. Weather Observation Journal: Start a weather journal! Each day, look outside and draw a picture of what the weather looks like. Is it sunny, cloudy, rainy, or snowy? Write a few words about how the weather makes you feel. At the end of the week, share your journal with a friend or family member and talk about the different weather you observed.

  2. Weather Dress-Up Game: Play a dress-up game where you choose clothes for different types of weather. Gather some clothes like hats, scarves, sunglasses, raincoats, and boots. Pretend it’s a sunny, cloudy, rainy, or snowy day and dress up accordingly. Talk about why you chose each item and how it helps you stay comfortable in that weather.

  3. Cloud Shapes Adventure: On a cloudy day, lie down outside and look up at the clouds. What shapes or animals can you see in the clouds? Use your imagination to create stories about the shapes you find. You can even draw the cloud shapes you see and share your stories with your classmates or family.
