Weather is what we see and feel outside every day. It can be different each day, like when you wear a jacket or shorts. Weather helps us decide what to wear and what fun things we can do!
When the sun is shining bright in the sky, we call it a sunny day. Sunny days are great for playing outside, going to the park, or having a picnic. Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen!
Sometimes, the sky is covered with clouds. We call this a cloudy day. The sun hides behind the clouds, and it might feel a little cooler. You can still have fun playing outside, just keep an eye on the sky!
On windy days, the air moves fast, and you can feel it blowing your hair and clothes. Windy days are perfect for flying kites and watching the leaves dance in the breeze.
When water falls from the clouds, it’s a rainy day. You might need an umbrella and rain boots to stay dry. Rainy days are great for jumping in puddles and watching the raindrops race down the window.
In cold weather, sometimes it snows! Snowflakes fall from the sky, and everything looks white and fluffy. You can build a snowman, make snow angels, or have a snowball fight. Remember to bundle up in warm clothes!
Look outside and see what the weather is like today. Is it sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy, or snowy? What do you think the weather will be like tomorrow? Whatever it is, have fun and enjoy the day!
Thanks for learning about the weather with me. See you next time, and have a wonderful day!
Weather Journal: Start a weather journal with your child. Each day, have them look outside and draw a picture of what the weather looks like. Encourage them to use colors to show if it’s sunny, cloudy, rainy, or snowy. Ask them to describe how the weather feels and what they wore that day. This will help them observe changes in the weather over time.
Weather Dress-Up Game: Gather different clothing items like hats, scarves, sunglasses, and rain boots. Ask your child to dress up a doll or stuffed animal according to the weather you describe. For example, if you say it’s a sunny day, they might choose sunglasses and a hat. This activity helps them think about how weather affects our clothing choices.
Weather Detective: Go on a “weather walk” with your child. As you walk, ask them to be weather detectives and look for clues about the weather. Can they see clouds, feel the wind, or hear raindrops? Encourage them to use all their senses to explore and describe the weather. After the walk, discuss what they observed and how it matches the weather descriptions from the lesson.
