Where Did the Color Go?

Today, we’re reading a book called “Where Did the Color Go?” by Joey Mullen. It’s a story about two kids named Easton and Lyric. One morning, they woke up and saw something very strange. All the colors in the world had disappeared! Everything looked plain and gray.

Easton and Lyric were curious. They wanted to find out where all the colors went. So, they got out of bed and started looking around their house.

The Mystery Begins

First, they checked the living room, their parents’ bedroom, and the bathroom. But there were no colors anywhere! Then, they heard some noises coming from the kitchen. Chop, chop, chop! What could it be?

When they peeked into the kitchen, they saw a stranger cutting something. It looked like a banana, but it had no color! The stranger didn’t have red hair like their Daddy, so who could it be?

Bringing Back the Colors

Easton and Lyric were worried. They ran to the playroom and found a box of crayons. These crayons still had bright colors!

“Let’s use the crayons to bring back the colors!” said Easton.

“Great idea!” said Lyric.

They started coloring everything around them. The apple became red, the hat turned blue, and Lyric’s dress was pink. They colored the mango orange, the bananas yellow, and Easton’s shorts green. They even colored the lettuce and the fan green!

A Colorful Surprise

The twins ran all around the house, bringing back the colors. It was so much fun! Finally, they used the last of their crayons to color the stranger in the kitchen. Suddenly, they recognized him. It was their Daddy with his red hair and green eyes!

“Daddy, a world without color is boring,” said Easton. “Our differences make us special!”

Daddy smiled and agreed. “Yes, our differences are what make us special. And who doesn’t want to be special?”

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Did you have fun at school? Did you get to play with your friends and learn new things? Maybe sometime in the sunshine? Are you ready to settle down and read a book with us?

Today we have a book called “Where Did the Color Go?” by Joey Mullen. Let’s have a go, shall we?

“Where Did the Color Go?”

Easton and Lyric woke up to see that all the colors had been drained from the world. The things that were once bright and colorful were now plain and colorless. How would our twins tell each other apart? They got out of bed and went to investigate.

Oh no! All the color had gone from the living room, their parents’ bedroom, and the bathroom. What had happened? Where did the color go?

Lyric and Easton heard noises coming from the kitchen, so they decided to check it out. There was a stranger in the kitchen, cutting something. Chop, chop, chop!

“Who are you?”

The strange man was cutting something that looked like a banana, just like Daddy usually did. This couldn’t be Daddy; this man didn’t have red hair. This was a stranger!

The man laughed and began cutting something that resembled a strawberry, but it had no color. Lyric growled and asked Easton how this man had gotten into their house and why he was trying to eat all their food. Worried, the twins went to the playroom to seek help.

They found a box of crayons. These were the only things in the house that still had color.

“Let’s put color back into the world!”

“Good idea!”

“The apple is red. The hat is blue. Wow! My dress is pink. Mango is orange. Bananas are yellow. Easton’s shorts are green. Lyric’s stool is blue. Lettuce is green. My fan is green. Easton’s clothes are blue, orange, and red. Lyric’s clothes are purple and blue.”

The twins ran as fast as they could around their home to bring back the colors. That looked like plenty of fun! Finally, the twins had covered everything in the house with bright, beautiful colors, except for the stranger in the kitchen.

They used the last of their crayons to bring color to him too. They immediately recognized his red hair and green eyes.

“It’s Daddy!”

“Daddy, a world without color is very boring, just like a world without people who look different than you. Our differences are what make us so special,” said Daddy.
