Who is Boo?

Meeting a New Friend

Oh, my! What should we do? Let’s go say hi. I’m a bit scared, but let’s meet the new friend together!

Knock, Knock!

*Knock, knock.* Who could it be? Let’s find out!

Who Are You?

We ask, “Who are you?” and wonder if this is your old box. We don’t want to bother you, but we are curious!

A Surprise Hug?

Wow, what do you think our new friend is going to do? Maybe give us a big, warm hug?

A Special Invitation

Our new friend says, “This beat-up box means a lot to me. Please come in for snacks and tea!”

Learning About Friendship

Isn’t it fun to meet new friends? Sometimes, they might seem a little different or have things we don’t understand, like an old box. But when we take the time to say hello, we can make a new friend and maybe even share some yummy snacks and tea!

Fun Activity

Let’s draw a picture of our new friend and his special box. What do you think the snacks and tea look like? Use your imagination and have fun!

  • Have you ever met someone new who seemed a little different at first? How did you feel, and what did you do to get to know them better?
  • If you had a special box like Boo, what would you keep inside it, and why is it important to you?
  • What are some fun things you like to do with your friends when you first meet them? Can you think of a time when you shared something special with a new friend?
  1. Friendship Role Play: Gather a few props like a box, some toy snacks, and cups. Pair up with a friend and take turns being the new friend and the visitor. Practice saying “hello” and inviting each other to share snacks and tea. Discuss how it feels to meet someone new and what you can do to make them feel welcome.

  2. Box Adventure: Find an old box at home or in the classroom. Imagine what special things it might hold or what adventures it could take you on. Draw or write a short story about your adventure with the box and share it with the class. What did you discover? How did you feel?

  3. Observation Walk: Go on a short walk around your school or neighborhood with a teacher or parent. Look for things that might seem ordinary, like a box or a tree, and imagine what stories they could tell. Discuss with your group how these things might be special to someone, just like the box was special to Boo.

Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:
