Cooking Adventure in Space!

One day, Kiki found herself in a strange place. She was at home, but now she was somewhere else! A friendly voice asked Kiki to be the chef for a space party. Kiki was surprised and said, “You should have told me first!”

Making Yummy Noodles

Kiki looked around and saw lots of cooking tools. She picked a pot and decided to make noodles. “Let’s make some noodles!” she said excitedly. Kiki was ready to show how good she was at cooking.

First, she added some noodles to the pot. Then, she chose some ingredients: sweet carrots, eggs, and onions. “These will make the noodles taste so yummy!” she thought.

Suddenly, water started gushing out! “Oh no!” Kiki pressed a red button, and fire appeared to cook the noodles. She added the carrots, eggs, and onions. The soup started to smell delicious!

Cooking in Space is Fun!

Next, Kiki shook the pot. “Boom, boom!” she laughed. The spaceship shook too, but the noodles looked even better! “This is how we cook in space!” Kiki giggled.

It was time to choose the seasoning. Kiki picked chili powder to make it spicy. But oh no, her friend Mew Mew couldn’t eat spicy food! “Maybe Nikki will like it,” Kiki thought.

Pizza Time!

Now, it was time for the second dish. Kiki chose an oven and rolled some dough. She added yummy toppings like eggplant, ham, bell pepper, onion, and tomato. “Let’s bake the pizza!” she said.

The oven was special. Kiki pulled its arms to start it. “There’s a 50-50 chance of an explosion!” the voice warned. But everything was okay, and the pizza was ready!

Kiki picked ketchup for the sauce, but oh no, it was spicy chili tomato ketchup! “This might be too spicy!” she worried.

A Surprise Ending

Kiki’s friend loved the spicy pizza! “Wow, it’s so yummy!” she said. Kiki realized she should have given the spicy noodles to her friend who liked spicy food.

After making two dishes, Kiki asked to go home. But the voice said, “Stay here and cook for me forever!”

Suddenly, Kiki woke up. “Oh, it was just a dream!” she said. Her mom called, “Kiki, time to get up! You’re gonna be late!”

Kiki smiled, remembering her fun cooking adventure in space. “I’ll be ready for more adventures next time!” she thought happily.

Lesson Activities

  1. Space Cooking Role Play: Gather some toy kitchen tools and ingredients. Pretend you are Kiki cooking in space. What would you make? Use your imagination to create a new dish. Share your dish with your friends or family and explain why you chose those ingredients. How would you make sure everyone likes it?

  2. Ingredient Exploration: At home, look at the ingredients Kiki used: carrots, eggs, onions, eggplant, ham, bell pepper, and tomato. With the help of an adult, try tasting these ingredients separately. Which ones do you like the most? Can you think of other dishes you can make with them?

  3. Spicy or Not Spicy: Think about the spicy noodles and pizza Kiki made. Discuss with a friend or family member what “spicy” means. Have you ever tried something spicy? How did it taste? Draw a picture of a dish you would make that is not spicy, and one that is spicy. Who would you share each dish with?
