Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going to join Zack and his friends on an exciting adventure. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Zack meets his friend Axel, who is getting ready for a big race called the Great Derby Town Circle Race. It’s a race where cars zoom around a big circle track. But oh no! Dark clouds are coming, and it might rain!
Zack loves the rain because it makes everything muddy, and trucks like him can drive through the mud easily. But Axel, who is a racer, doesn’t like the rain because it makes the track slippery and hard to race on.
To keep the track dry, Zack and Axel decide to build a tent. They ask their friend Mika for help. Mika finds a big piece of canvas to cover the track, but they need something to hold it up like a roof.
With teamwork, they find a big stick to lift the tent above the track. They pull and push together, and finally, the tent is up! Now the track is safe from the rain.
Later, Zack and Mika meet Bob the Boat, who had trouble finding his way home in the dark. They decide to build a lighthouse to help Bob see at night.
They try different ways to shine the light from the lighthouse. First, they shine it at Bob, but it’s too bright. Then, they shine it at Bob’s boathouse, and it works perfectly! Now Bob can find his way home safely.
After all the hard work, Zack and his friends play a fun game of hide and seek. They take turns hiding and finding each other, laughing and having a great time.

Build Your Own Tent: Just like Zack and his friends, you can build a small tent at home! Use a blanket or a large piece of cloth and some chairs or a table to create a tent. Ask an adult to help you. Once your tent is ready, pretend it’s raining outside and you’re keeping your toys dry inside. How does it feel to work together to build something?
Rainy Day Race: Create a small race track using toy cars and a circular track made from string or tape on the floor. Sprinkle a little water on the track to make it “rainy.” Try racing the cars on the wet track. What happens? Is it harder or easier to race? Talk about how rain changes the way things move.
Light the Way: Use a flashlight to create your own lighthouse at home. Turn off the lights in a room and use the flashlight to guide a toy boat (or any small toy) to a “home” spot. Try shining the light in different directions. Which way helps the toy find its way home the best? Discuss why light is important for finding your way in the dark.

Axel: Wait, why don’t we try again and see if there’s a way to keep your track dry?
Zack: Really? Well, that would be great, but it’s awfully big. How are we going to cover it all?
Axel: Maybe a tent?
Zack: Yeah, a tent! Uh, how are we going to make a tent?
Axel: I don’t know, but I bet Mika could tell us!
Zack: Oh, yeah! Let’s ask Mika. She knows all about that kind of stuff. Ready, set, turn! Let’s go!
Axel: Hey, Axel!
Zack: Oh, yeah! Why are we going this way?
Axel: To make it short!
Zack: But what do you mean?
Axel: Well, this is the long way.
Zack: I know! That’s why we’re taking it—because it’s fun to race!
Axel: Oh, yeah!

Axel: Actually, you gotta slow down a bit.

Mika: Yeah, I know! We’ve got a whole racetrack that we need to keep dry. Do you think you can put a tent over it?

Mika: No, that’s not it. Where did I put it? Oh, wait! Yeah, this will work! Let me just pull it out. Here we go!
Zack: What do you think?
Mika: Wow, it’s huge!
Zack: Really huge!
Mika: That will cover the track for sure!
Zack: Absolutely!
Mika: All right, is this the track you want to cover, Axel?
Axel: Yeah!
Mika: Okay, all I have to do is pull the canvas across the racetrack, and it’ll be safe from the rain.
Zack: Oh, here we go! Just a little bit more, and… okay!
Mika: There! Oh, we did it!
Axel: Yeah, Zack! I’m not sure this worked. It’ll be safe from the rain, but it’s lying right on top of everything, including the track.
Zack: Oh, yeah! The tent is right on top of the track, so there’s no room for derbies to race underneath it!
Mika: Exactly! I think we need to try again.
Axel: Are we trying again?
Mika: Yeah! I think we need something to lift our tent above the racetrack so it’s not lying right on top of it, like a big stick. If we put it up in the middle, then it’ll hold the canvas up like a roof!
Axel: Oh, that’s a great idea, Mika!
Mika: Yeah, let’s go get one!
Zack: Great! Um, how do we get out of here?
Mika: All set out here, Zack!
Zack: So, what are we doing?
Mika: Okay, Mika’s gonna pull, and we’re gonna push, and together we’ll get this stick to stand up!
Zack: Oh, okay! Ready, set, turbo!
Mika: Aha! Look, it worked!
Zack: Oh, but not that well. There’s a little space on the track in the middle, but the tent is still on the ground.
Mika: How’s it going in there, Zerbies?
Axel: Oh, it looks like there’s just not enough room in here, even with the stick.
Mika: It looks like we’re gonna have to try again.
Zack: Hey, what’s going on? The tent is getting bigger!
Mika: What is going on? What are you Zerbies saying? I can’t hear you!
Zack: Wait a second! Look at that! There’s a lot more room!
Mika: Yeah, look at that! How did that happen?
Zack: I don’t know! It just opened right up!
Mika: What are you doing out there, Mika?
Mika: I’m just pulling the edge of the tent!

Bob: Yes, and I try to get home before it’s too dark, but last night I was lying in the lily pads listening to the frogs sing a beautiful lullaby.
Mika: Well, you should always be able to find your way home, dark or light!
Bob: Absolutely! You know, I’m sure if we tried, we could solve this problem for you!
Zack: Really? I think the construction derbies could build something that will help you see your way at night!
Bob: Yeah?
Zack: That means I could stay out till the end of the lullaby and still get home safely!
Mika: Don’t worry, Bob! We’ll go talk to Mika right now! Ready, set…
Mika: Wow, that is a problem! I think a lighthouse is the way to go! Lighthouses are made to help boats at night!
Zack: A lighthouse? Well, that should make seeing things a whole lot easier! Let’s do it!
Mika: Yeah, let’s do it!
Bob: Keep coming, Rex! Keep coming! Okay, and stop there! All right, there you go!
Zack: Wow, look at that lighthouse! It’s amazing!
Mika: Let me hook on, and we’ll see if we can get it pulled up!

Bob: Well, I can see the bush the lighthouse is shining its light on, but I can only see the bush! It’s dark everywhere else!
Mika: Hmm, I guess we should try again! But what should we do differently?
Bob: I think we should point the light somewhere else!
Mika: Yeah, it’s not the bushes that need the light; it’s me!
Zack: Hey, there’s an idea! Why don’t we point the light at Bob?
Bob: At me?
Zack: Well, you’re the one that needs the light, right? So if we shine it right at you, then maybe you’ll see everything!
Bob: Sure! Why don’t we give that a shot?
Mika: Okay, let’s do it!
Zack: All right, let’s go back to the lighthouse!
Mika: I’ll head out into the bay!
Zack: All right, let’s just try it again!
Mika: I’ll just turn the light and aim right at you!

Mika: Let me just move the joystick and get the light aimed right at your boathouse, Bob!

Bob: Well, that’s amazing! I can really see the boathouse from way out here! I’m gonna give it a try!

Mika: Yeah! This is actually pretty easy! I can totally see where I’m going! I can even go right in here!
