share us on:

In today’s lesson with the Zerbies, we explored the importance of creativity, problem-solving, and perseverance through fun activities like spinning, building jumps, solving mazes, and constructing a floating garage. The Zerbies demonstrated that making mistakes is part of the learning process, and with teamwork and innovative thinking, they can overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Ultimately, the lesson encourages us to keep exploring and trying new things while having fun along the way!
  1. What did the Zerbies learn when they tried to build the jump?
  2. How did the Zerbies solve the maze together?
  3. Why is it important to keep trying when we make mistakes?

Let’s Build and Play with Zerbies!

Hi there! Today, we’re going to have some fun with our friends, the Zerbies. They love to build things and try new adventures. Are you ready to join them? Let’s go!

Spinning and Building

One day, a Zerby was spinning around in circles, making donuts! Another Zerby wanted to learn how to do it too. It’s easy! Just rev your engine, turn your wheels, and spin around. But if you can’t do it right away, that’s okay. You can always try something else, like building with the construction Zerbies!

Building the Best Jump Ever

The Zerbies decided to build the best jump ever. They wanted to jump over a puddle and a tree branch. They tried different shapes for the jump. First, they made a long and low jump to go far. Then, they made a short and steep jump to go high. But they needed a jump that could do both!

So, they built a jump that was just right, not too long and not too steep. And guess what? It worked! The Zerbies jumped over the puddle and the branch. Hooray!

Solving the Maze

Next, the Zerbies wanted to solve a tricky maze. They tried many times but always got lost. They called their friend Chase to help them find the way out. But they wanted to solve it on their own.

Then, they had a clever idea! They left a trail of rocks to help them remember the way. This time, they solved the maze and found their way out. Yay for the Zerbies!

Building a Floating Garage

Bob the Boat didn’t have a garage, so the Zerbies decided to build one for him. But when they put it in the water, it sank! Oh no! They needed to try again.

They thought about what floats and decided to use sticks. But the garage floated away! Finally, they used rocks to make a strong base in the water. Now, Bob’s garage stays in place, and he’s so happy!

Learning and Trying Again

The Zerbies teach us that it’s okay to make mistakes. We can always try, try again. And remember, answers are everywhere if we look around and think creatively. So, let’s keep exploring, building, and having fun!

Thanks for joining the Zerbies today. See you next time for more adventures!

  • Have you ever tried to build something or solve a puzzle like the Zerbies? What did you build or solve, and how did it make you feel?
  • The Zerbies had to try different ways to make the perfect jump and solve the maze. Can you think of a time when you had to try different ways to do something? What did you learn from it?
  • Bob the Boat needed a floating garage. What other things do you think might float on water? Have you ever seen something float or sink? What was it?
  1. Build Your Own Jump: Gather some toy cars and blocks or small boxes. Try to build different types of jumps for your cars. Make a long and low jump, then a short and steep one. See which one makes your car go the farthest or the highest. Can you build a jump that does both? Experiment with different shapes and heights, just like the Zerbies!

  2. Maze Adventure: Create a simple maze using string or tape on the floor. Use small toys or figures to navigate through the maze. Try to find the way out without getting lost. If you do, leave a trail of small objects like buttons or pebbles to help you remember the path, just like the Zerbies did with rocks!

  3. Floating Garage Experiment: Collect different materials like sticks, leaves, and small stones. Try to build a floating platform in a shallow container of water. Test which materials float and which ones sink. Can you build a stable platform that stays in place? Think about how the Zerbies used rocks to keep Bob’s garage from floating away.

Here’s a sanitized version of the provided YouTube transcript:

[Music]

Hey, what are you doing down there?

I’m doing donuts.

Oh, is there any way you could teach me how to do that?

Oh yeah, you just rev your engine, turn your wheels, and spin.

Okay, here I go!

Yeah, turn your wheels like this. See? Turn, turn.

I don’t know if I’m as good at this as you are.

Let me see… uh, no. Well, we could do something else instead. I was going to meet up with the construction Zerbies.

Hey, do you want to come?

You go ahead; I’m going to practice some more.

All righty!

There you go, guys! You want some more dirt?

This is so much fun!

This is going to be great!

I need some of this over here.

I love it too! I’m coming!

Yes, I need some more. Thank you!

There you are, there’s some more dirt for you.

You want any more?

I think we’re good.

All right, where should we put it?

Well, it depends on what we’re building.

Let’s build something we’ve never built before!

Like what?

I don’t know; we’ve built lots of things.

Hey, guys, what are you building today?

Well, the thing is, we don’t know. We wanted to build something different, something new, something we’ve never built before.

Ooh, I know! What about building a jump?

We build jumps all the time!

Yeah, we do! Long jumps, short jumps, low jumps, high jumps…

But have you built the best jump ever?

No, the best jump ever!

Oh, that sounds neat! Let’s do it!

All right, let’s go!

I’m excited! You guys excited?

You’re not kidding!

Hey Axel, what’s going on?

Well, we’re going to build the best jump ever!

The best jump ever?

Hey Zach, come check it out!

Wait for me!

Okay, you see this puddle right here?

Yeah!

Well, I’d like to be able to jump really far right over this puddle.

Ooh, we’ve never built one to go over a puddle!

Let’s go!

Oh wait, in order for it to be the best jump ever, I also want to be able to jump high over that branch.

We’ve never built one to go over a tree branch either!

So both high and far?

Yep, no problem! Let’s go!

I know we can do this!

These are the best logs ever!

I’m going to move it!

Load it up!

How do you guys?

That’s perfect!

Here we go!

Way to go, Zerbies! Another great construction!

Wow, that ramp is looking great! You should try it!

It sure is!

Okay, here we go!

Have fun, Axel!

Ready, set, turbo!

Great jump, Axel!

Oh, that was a great jump!

Yeah, but I don’t know if it worked.

What do you mean?

Well, you see, this jump makes you go far, but you didn’t get over that branch. In fact, you’re not going very high at all.

Oh right, good point!

Well, you know we can always try again!

What’s that? Are we trying again?

Yeah! All we have to do is build another jump so I can go higher!

You got it! Come on, Z!

Woohoo!

There we go!

All right, come on guys! One second!

This is going to be… I think we did it!

Wow, this jump looks a lot different than the first one!

Yep, this one’s very short and steep!

Give it a shot, Axel!

Good luck with this one, Axel!

Go for it!

Go, Axel!

Okay, ready? Turbo!

Oh, oh yeah!

A small problem—I landed in the puddle of mud!

Yeah, but did you see how high you went? You went really high!

But I guess you’re not going so far anymore.

Oh, you’re right! It looks like we’ll have to try again!

Oh, are we trying again? One more time, everybody!

Oh, but what shape do we try next?

Oh, I don’t know!

I know! Let’s take a look at the two jumps because answers are everywhere!

Okay, then let’s go!

Hey, you know what I noticed?

What?

Look at the shape of this jump. You see how it’s long and really low?

Yeah!

Well, this jump lets you go really far, right?

Yeah!

Okay, now check the other jump. See how the shape is really different? Instead of long and low, it’s short and really steep.

So what if we build something that was in between the two shapes?

Well, do you think that’ll work?

The only way to find out is to try!

I love trying again!

All right, looking good, guys!

Hey Axel, it’s done!

It’s done! It’s done!

Do you think it’ll get me all the way over here?

Well, it’s higher than the first jump, but it’s lower than the second jump, so it might!

But there’s only one way to find out, right?

It’s time for me to try it!

Okay, this is going to be great!

Ready, set, turbo!

Wow!

Right over the branch and clear across the puddle! Fabulous fenders, I did it!

All right, Axel! Best jump!

So, so now what?

Oh, I know! Jump with me on your back!

Okay, that’s a great idea!

Okay, hang on! Here we go!

Okay, yeah, yeah! Nothing’s happening!

Yeah, nothing’s happening!

I’m going fast!

No, no, no, no! I’m going! Can’t you feel it? Can’t you feel the wind?

What if I push with my wheels out and then you go fast and I’ll push?

This way, Rex! I’m coming!

We haven’t been down this trail for a while!

Let’s go!

Hey, wait! What’s that?

What?

Over there!

Oh, it’s the Zerby Town maze!

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that! Did we ever solve it?

Nope! Every time we tried, we were able to get to the center, but then we got lost and had to call Chase to lead us back out.

All right, but I have a feeling today is the day we solve it!

I have that feeling too! Let’s go!

All right, let’s go!

Behind you!

All right, let’s go this way!

I’m right there!

Okay, um, let’s go! This looks good! Straight down here!

This is the way! And then, and then this way!

Come on, come on! I think you’re right, Zach! And I’m pretty sure we’ll go… we haven’t hit a dead end yet!

Going this way over here! Here we go!

Hey, we made it to the center of the maze!

Wait, how do you know?

Because at the center, we built this mud puddle!

All right, let’s play!

Well, that was easy!

No, don’t you remember? Getting to the center of the maze was always easy; it was getting out that was the tricky part!

Well, we just have to follow the same path we came in on, right?

Good thinking, Rex! So where did we come from?

It was there!

Uh, no, no, it was there!

No, uh, uh!

Oh, all the exits look the same!

Oh, you’re right! Well, let’s go this way over here! Come on!

Okay, yeah, I’m pretty sure we went around this way over here!

Yep, I think you’re right! And then this way!

Come on, this looks correct! And then we went this way!

I think this is the way!

No, we didn’t go that way!

All right, hey, why don’t we try over here?

Okay, I don’t know if that’s right, but maybe… I don’t know!

Then around this corner!

Huh, this doesn’t seem right either, Zach!

Oh no! Dead end!

I have no idea where we are!

I think we’re stuck!

That’s ridiculous! Super maze solvers don’t get stuck!

Then where are we?

I have no idea! Maybe we should call Chase!

Zach to Chase! Can you come and help us?

Sure thing, Zerbies! I’ll be right there!

Okay, I can see you from way up here!

Hey Chase, can you lead us out?

No problem! First, you back out, then you go left!

There!

Okay, good! Next, turn left!

There!

Now go down that straightaway!

Okay, now turn that next corner!

Okay, and you’re out!

We’re out! Yay! Thanks, Chase!

Sorry we had to call you!

Oh, it’s okay, Zach! No Zerby has ever solved that maze!

No Zerby has ever solved it!

Nope! We’d be the first!

Well, I’ll see you later!

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Let’s try, try again!

Right, but what should we do differently this time?

We’ll remember what turns we took, and that way we can get back out!

Okay, all right! I’ll call out the turns and you remember!

All right! First turn, right!

Uh, right!

And then next turn is a left!

Okay, right, and then left!

And then we’re going straight!

Right!

And then a left!

And then straight!

And then two more rights!

That’s a left!

Two rights, then another left!

Uh, and then a straight!

Uh, a banana!

And then a right!

Mud bathtub!

And oh no!

And here we are!

Rex, I think we should head back before we forget the way!

Okay, uh, which way do we go?

Uh, left? Right?

Um, then, uh, uh, banana!

Uh, sorry Zach, I have no idea!

Yeah, it was a lot of turns!

Rex to Chase! We need some more help!

Thanks for getting us out again, Chase!

There you go!

Don’t worry, Zerbies! Like I said, this maze is so hard! No Zerby has ever solved it!

I’m sure we can do it! We just need to try, try again!

But what should we do this time?

I don’t know! Let’s look around!

Answers are everywhere!

You’re right, Zach! Answers are everywhere!

Come on over here!

You see anything?

No, not yet!

Oh hey, look! A trail of rocks!

Let’s follow it!

Okay!

Hey Phil, you left a trail of rocks!

Hey Zerbies! I’m just moving some rocks from one pile to another. I must have dropped some!

Wait, Rex! I think I found the answer!

Quick! Put some rocks in your dump and follow me!

Okay, here’s my plan: you drop a trail of rocks and then we follow the trail back out!

Oh, okay! Let’s try!

Okay, I’ll go first and you follow me!

Okay, here I go! I’m going to start by dumping!

There we go! Starting the path and putting some rocks down there!

And over there!

Keep coming this way!

I got a nice little trail going on here!

It’s working! We can follow the rocks all the way back!

Okay, let’s keep going! Dump!

Okay, we’re at the center!

Let’s see if our plan works! Which way should we go to head back out?

All the exits look the same!

Yeah, but only one has rocks!

Yeah!

Let’s go!

Okay, did we come this way?

Well, we must have because look, there’s rocks!

Oh, well that means we’re on the right track!

Look, Rex! There’s the gate where we started!

We did it! Yay!

We’re super maze solvers! And the rocks are there so that we can always solve the maze again!

Oh hey guys! I was cleaning up my rocks and I saw some in the maze there, so now I’ve cleaned them all up!

Uh, Phil, those were for getting out!

Oh, uh, sorry!

What do we do back in the maze?

Let’s solve it again!

All right, I’m coming too!

Oh yes! I get to solve it again! This is going to be fun!

Come right behind you!

Oh, a little more to the right!

Oh, too far to the right!

Ah, there!

I’m finished!

I love garage painting day!

Hey Jewel, I just love your garage! Do you think the jewel is big enough?

I don’t want Zerbies to think I don’t love jewels!

Oh, I think they’ll see that! Great job!

Hey Zach, did you finish your garage?

I did! What do you think?

I like it! It looks just like you!

I never noticed how much each Zerby’s garage looks just like them!

I never noticed that either! That’s neat!

Yeah!

Hey, what does Bob the Boat’s garage look like?

Bob’s? Hmm, I can’t remember!

Let’s go find out!

Okay!

Okay, catch me, Lily!

Okay, you got me!

Okay, I got you!

Wait for me!

Come on this way, Lily!

Okay, over the log!

Okay, wait, wait! Here I come!

You’ll be okay! I’ll watch!

Okay, ready?

Oh!

Are you okay, Lily?

Come on, let’s go see Bob!

Okay, this way!

Okay, I see him! I’m right behind you!

Hey Bob!

Oh hi, Zach! Hi Lily!

Hey, what’s going on? Where’s your garage, Bob?

Oh, I don’t have a garage!

You don’t? Why not?

Well, I never thought I needed one! I just sleep right there on the docks at night!

But what if it rains?

Oh, I’m a boat! I’m always wet! A little rain never bothers me!

Okay, see you later!

Okay, see you later, Bob! Bye Bob!

I don’t know why, but it makes me feel sad that Bob doesn’t have a garage of his own!

Me too! Come on, I have a plan!

I always thought he had a garage at the other end of the lake!

No, he doesn’t have one!

Hey, we could build him one and surprise him with it!

Ooh, that’s a good idea!

Yeah, let’s do it!

Ready, set, turbo!

Okay, let’s go!

This is good!

Okay, let’s put just lifting the windows into place!

Oh, that’s nice!

Yeah!

Oh yeah, I think it’s going to be great!

Hey Bob!

Hi, Z! What’s going on?

Is that a garage for me?

Wow! We all thought you should have a garage! What do you think?

Wow, it’s great!

So where do you want it?

Over here, by the water!

Okay, I’ll just swing it out and lower it down here!

And perfect!

There we go!

Uh-oh!

Uh-oh!

It sank! And sadly, I’m not a submarine, so I can’t go under the water!

Bob’s garage needs to stay on top of the water!

Yes, you’re right!

Yeah, it’s okay! We’ll just try, try again!

So what should we do differently?

Oh, I know! I float, so maybe my garage should float too!

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea!

So we just need to find a way to make the garage float!

How do we do that?

How about sticks? Sticks float!

Good idea, Lily! That should work!

All right, let’s go!

Yeah, let’s go!

I’ll get the garage out of the water! Just let me know when you’re back with the sticks!

Okay, so here are some sticks!

And we line them up like this!

And then there’s an opening here so Bob can get in and out!

Now all we have to do is attach the garage to the sticks!

It looks great! Do you think it will work?

Well, let’s try it and find out!

Okay, just lift it up and put it on the sticks!

Now to tie the sticks to the garage!

Now let’s see if it floats!

Yay!

Wow, this is great! My own garage!

I just want to say thank you to you Zerbies! I never had a garage before, and I didn’t think I needed one, but now that I have one, I’m so excited to use it!

And now every night I can come back to my garage, which will always be sitting right here!

Hey, where did it go?

It floated away over there!

Oh, I better go get it!

Come back, garage!

Floating!

The garage didn’t work!

I guess we should try, try again!

But I don’t know what to do!

Don’t worry, Zach! Answers are everywhere!

Hey, let’s go look around!

Oh, good idea, Lily!

What?

Okay, that’s a log!

No, I guess we sort of tried that!

Uh, maybe something in the water?

I don’t know!

Hey, Lily, you’re floating! How are you doing that?

No, I’m not! I’m on a rock!

See?

Oh, hey Lily, maybe you found the answer!

Let’s get some rocks!

Okay, let’s go!

Wait, Lily! Wait for me!

Okay, so what we have is all of these rocks!

And what we’re going to do is place the rocks in the water where Bob’s garage will go!

I still don’t get it, Zach! How are rocks going to work?

Rocks aren’t going to make Bob’s garage float!

Ah, but you see, we don’t need his garage to float!
