One sunny day, Lily and her friends decided to go on an adventure. “Come on, it’s this way!” Lily called out excitedly. Her friends followed her down a trail, eager to see what fun they could find.
It was fall, and the leaves were everywhere! “Let’s play in the leaves!” suggested one of Lily’s friends. They ran around, trying to catch leaves as they fell from the trees. “Look, I caught one in my hood!” laughed Lily. They all tried to catch leaves on their heads, but it was harder than it looked!
Suddenly, they saw a big pile of leaves moving. “Is it a leaf monster?” they wondered. But it was just Rex, their friend, who was covered in leaves! “I’ve been driving through these deep leaves all day,” Rex explained. They all laughed and decided to help clear the leaves.
Phil, another friend, had an idea. “I can move the leaves with my shovel!” he said. They worked together to scoop up the leaves, but there were just too many! Lily thought of a new plan. “Let’s attach sticks to Phil’s shovel to make a big rake!” she suggested. They tried it, but it didn’t work as well as they hoped.
They didn’t give up! “Let’s try going backwards,” Lily said. Phil backed up, and it worked! They cleared the leaves quickly and had fun doing it. “Going backwards is the best way to rake these leaves!” they cheered.
Later, they saw their friend Chase, who was a helicopter. He was flying around, but he was asleep! “Oh no, he’s sleep flying!” they exclaimed. They called out to wake him up, but he got stuck in a tree!
Strut, another friend, came to help. He used his long hook to pull Chase out of the tree. “Hooray, I’m free!” Chase shouted happily. They all laughed and promised to keep an eye on Chase when he was sleepy.
One day, it started to rain. The water made a new stream that washed over the road. “We need to stop the water!” Lily said. They worked together to build a dam, but the water was too strong.
Then, they had a great idea! They built a path to move the water away from the road. “We did it!” they cheered as the water flowed safely away from Zerby Town.
With the water problem solved, they decided to play in the leftover puddles. “This is so much fun!” they laughed, splashing around. They were happy to have solved the problem and enjoyed their time together.
And so, Lily and her friends had another exciting day full of adventures and teamwork!

Problem-Solving with Friends: Think of a simple problem you might face at home or school, like organizing toys or books. Work with a friend or family member to come up with different solutions. Try them out and see which one works best. Discuss why some solutions worked better than others.
