Let’s Go to the Zoo!

Hi there! It’s me, ABC. Are you ready to go on a fun adventure? Let’s visit the zoo together! We’ll see all kinds of amazing animals like lions, tigers, kangaroos, and giant pandas. We’ll watch them eat, sleep, and play. Let’s get started!

Meet the Gorillas

First, let’s visit the gorillas. Gorillas are big and strong. They live in family groups, and the leader is called a silverback. Gorillas love to eat plants, leaves, and fruit. Aren’t the baby gorillas cute? Let’s see what animal we will visit next!

Monkey Around

Now, let’s see the monkeys! Monkeys are smart and playful. They live in places like South America, Africa, and Mexico. Monkeys can use tools and peel their own fruit. They love to swing from tree to tree. Do you like to climb like a monkey?

Giant Pandas

Next up are the giant pandas! Pandas are black and white bears that live in cold forests. They eat a lot of bamboo—about 60 pounds a day! Pandas stay with their mothers until they are three years old. Can you imagine eating as much bamboo as a panda?

Pretty Flamingos

Let’s visit the flamingos! Flamingos are pink birds with long necks. They stand on one leg when they sleep. Flamingos can swim and fly. Have you ever seen so many pink birds in the sky?

Enormous Elephants

Now, let’s see the elephants! Elephants are the largest animals on land. They have big ears and long trunks that can spray water. Elephants eat plants, tree bark, and fruits. Have you ever pretended to be an elephant with your arm as a trunk?

Humpy Camels

Let’s say hello to the camels! Camels have one or two humps on their backs to store fat. They live in the desert and can go a long time without water. Have you ever ridden a camel? It’s bumpy fun!

Tall Giraffes

Look up, up, up to see the giraffes! Giraffes are the tallest animals and come from Africa. A baby giraffe is already 8 feet tall when it’s born! Giraffes use their long necks to eat leaves from tall trees. Imagine having a neck as long as a giraffe’s!

Big Ostriches

Next, let’s visit the ostriches! Ostriches are the largest birds and come from Africa. They can’t fly, but they can run fast. Ostrich eggs are very big, like a softball! When they want to hide, they lie flat on the ground. Aren’t ostriches amazing?

Amazing Anteaters

Now, let’s learn about giant anteaters! Anteaters have long, sticky tongues to eat ants. They walk on their knuckles to protect their sharp claws. Anteaters can slurp up ants really fast! Do you think you could eat as many ants as an anteater?

Colorful Rainforest Birds

Our last stop is the tropical rainforest birds! The rainforest is hot and wet, and birds like parrots and toucans love it there. Toucans have big bills to pick berries, and cockatoos have spiky head feathers. These birds are colorful and fun to watch!

Wow! We had so much fun at the zoo today. There are so many more animals to learn about. I hope you enjoyed our adventure. See you soon!

  • What was your favorite animal from our zoo adventure, and why did you like it the most?
  • If you could be any animal we saw today, which one would you choose to be and what would you do at the zoo?
  • Have you ever visited a zoo or seen any of these animals in real life? What was it like, and what did you learn from that experience?
  1. Animal Movement Game: Let’s pretend to be different animals from the zoo! Can you move like a gorilla, swing like a monkey, or stand on one leg like a flamingo? Try to mimic how these animals move and make their sounds. Ask your friends or family to guess which animal you are pretending to be. This will help you understand how each animal moves and behaves in its natural habitat.

  2. Zoo Animal Observation Journal: Create your own zoo animal journal. Draw pictures of your favorite animals from the zoo and write one or two sentences about what they eat, where they live, and something special they can do. For example, “Giraffes have long necks to eat leaves from tall trees.” This activity will help you remember interesting facts about each animal.

  3. Animal Snack Time: Let’s have a snack inspired by zoo animals! Prepare a snack using fruits and vegetables that some of the animals might eat, like bananas for monkeys or leafy greens for gorillas. As you enjoy your snack, think about how much food a giant panda eats in a day or how a camel stores fat in its humps. This will help you understand the different diets of zoo animals.

Here’s a sanitized version of the YouTube transcript:

Hi there! It’s me, ABC. Let’s go to the zoo! I’m on my way to the zoo, and I would love for you to come along. [Music] You’ll see lions, tigers, kangaroos, and giant pandas eating bamboo. We’ll watch the animals eat, sleep, and play. Let’s go to the zoo and watch them! [Music] [Applause] Yay! Let’s see which animals we’ll visit first.

Ooh, gorillas! Gorillas are fascinating. Here we go! Gorillas are popular here at the zoo. They’re big, hairy, and very strong too. They live together in family groups, with silverback males protecting the troops. [Music] Gorillas mostly eat and rest. Plants, leaves, and fruit are what they like best. [Music] Wow, weren’t the baby gorillas cute? Now, what animal do you think we’ll visit next? Monkeys! Do you like to climb around like monkeys do? Let’s go see the monkeys climb around!

Yeah, monkeys! You’ll find monkeys in South America, Africa, and Mexico. Monkeys are smart, clever, and cute. They learn to use tools and peel their own fruit. [Music] Monkeys are fun to watch, cuddle, and play. They swing from tree to tree. I can watch them all day! [Music] Wow! Monkeys are so fun and playful, just like you and me. I’m ready to visit another animal. Are you? Let’s see which one!

Pandas! Oh, pandas are my favorite! Hooray! Come on, I can’t wait! Giant pandas are black and white bears. They’re strong and hairy and are very rare. They live in the forest where it’s super cold and stay with their mother until they’re three years old. Giant pandas eat only bamboo—60 pounds a day is a lot to chill! [Music] Do you think you can chew as much bamboo as a panda does? Me neither! Now, I wonder where we’re going next.

Flamingos! I just love their pink feathers. Oh, they’re so pretty! Let’s go take a look. Yeah, flamingos! These birds are flamingos. They’re bubblegum pink. They bend their long neck down to eat and drink. Why do they stand on one leg like they do? That’s how they sleep! I can’t do that; can you? Flamingos can swim and fly. What a sight to see hundreds of pink birds in the sky! [Music] Wow! Did you see how flamingos sleep with their heads resting on their backs? Can you do that? I sure can’t!

Let’s see what animal is on our next stop. We’re going to see the elephants! Oh, they’re so gigantic, especially compared to me! Let’s go take a look. Yeah, elephants! The magnificent elephants! Aren’t they grand? They are the largest animals on land. Wow! They have big, flappy ears, and I suppose you’ve seen their trunk—it can spray like a hose! Elephants eat plants, tree bark, and fruits. Their white tusks are teeth that help dig up roots. Have you ever pretended to be an elephant using your arm as the trunk? It’s fun!

Okay, guess where we’re going next? Oh, camels! I once rode on a camel. It was humpy, bumpy fun! Let’s go say hello to the camels. Yeah, camels! Camels are known for their one or two humps—that’s where they store fat. The humps are called bumps. [Music] They live in the desert, where they have a chance to fill up with water and eat desert plants. When they finish drinking and chewing their food, they can go weeks without water and months without food. [Music] Wow! We have seen some pretty awesome animals so far, haven’t we? And there are lots more still to see! [Music] Hooray! Woohoo! Get ready to look up, up, up to see the giraffes!

Giraffes! Giraffes are lovable and friendly. They’re called gentle giants. Here at the zoo, a giraffe comes from Africa—the tallest animal of all! When a baby giraffe is born, it’s already 8 feet tall. Giraffes stretch their necks to eat from the trees. They munch on leaves and reach them with ease. I wonder what it would be like to have a neck as long as a giraffe’s. I guess we wouldn’t have any trouble seeing over crowds!

Yay! Ostrich is our next stop—that’s another animal with a very long neck! Let’s go see! Yeah, ostriches! Yay! The ostrich comes from Africa, the largest bird on Earth. Their babies are the size of a small chicken at birth. Ostriches can’t fly because their wings are small, but ostrich eggs are very big—the size of a softball! [Music] Wow! When an ostrich wants to hide to keep from getting hurt, it will lie flat on the ground and blend in with the dirt. Wow! Ostriches are amazing, and they’re so big! Whether an animal is big or small, I love them all, don’t you?

Oh my goodness, giant anteaters! I don’t know much about those animals. Do you? Let’s go find out about them right now! Yeah, giant anteaters! Yay! [Applause] Meet the giant anteaters! Here is a chance to see their long, sticky tongue slurp up the ants. They walk on their knuckles to protect their sharp claws. The anteaters fold them underneath their front paws. Their claws dig up ant hills, and the ants that are in it are quickly slurped up—150 times a minute! [Music] Wow! That’s the longest tongue I’ve ever seen! Anteaters really must love to eat ants!

I think we have time for one more stop today on our visit to the zoo. Which animal will we visit? Oh, it’s not just one kind of animal; it’s a lot—birds that live in the rainforest! I think some of them will be very colorful. Let’s go find out! Yeah, tropical rainforest birds! This is a rainforest—it’s wet, humid, and hot. Tropical rainforest birds like this weather a lot. The rainforest is filled with noisy chatter and squawks from colorful parrots and even some hawks. This toucan is known for its famous big bill; it picks small berries off trees with skill. The cockatoo is a parrot recognized best by its spiky head feathers called a crest. The tropical rainforest birds build nests and find food in the trees. Their strong feet and beaks help them climb up with ease. [Music] Wow! We had so much fun at the zoo together, didn’t we? And there are so many more animals we can learn about too. See you soon!
