Hello, my wonderful reading friends! I’m Ani, and I’m so happy you’re here to read with me. Today, we have a fun story about a little pig named Pinky. Are you ready to join Pinky on his snowy adventure to get a pizza? Let’s find out what happens in “Pizza Pie Snowman” by Valeri Gorbachev!
Pinky the Pig had a special job from his mommy. He needed to get a pizza with all their favorite toppings. To remember them, he made a little poem: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas.
As Pinky hurried through the snow, a snowball suddenly hit him on the head! It was his friends, the squirrel boys, playing in the snow. They wanted Pinky to join them, but he was too busy. He had to keep saying his poem: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas.
While Pinky was rushing, he didn’t notice that he looked like a snowman because he was covered in snow! Everyone in town was excited, saying, “A walking snowman!” But Pinky was too focused on getting the pizza to notice.
Finally, Pinky reached the pizzeria and shouted his poem: “Mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas!” The pizza maker, Mr. Coniglio, laughed and started making the pizza. As Pinky waited, the snow around him melted, and everyone realized he was not a snowman but a little pig!
Pinky ran home with the hot pizza. His mommy was so happy! After their yummy lunch, Pinky and his mommy went to town to see the walking snowman. But guess what? Pinky never saw the snowman because he was the snowman all along!
I hope you enjoyed our story today. Pinky’s adventure was so much fun! Thank you for reading with me, and I can’t wait to see you next time for another exciting story!
Pizza Topping Memory Game: Let’s play a fun memory game just like Pinky! Gather some toy food items or draw pictures of different pizza toppings like mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, and peas. Mix them up and place them face down. Take turns flipping two at a time to find matching pairs. Can you remember where each topping is? This will help you practice remembering things just like Pinky did with his poem!
Snowman Dress-Up: Pretend to be a snowman like Pinky! Use scarves, hats, and gloves to dress up as a snowman. You can even use white sheets or towels to wrap around yourself. Once you’re dressed up, walk around and see if your family can guess who you are. This activity helps you understand how Pinky felt when everyone thought he was a snowman!
Pizza Poem Creation: Create your own pizza poem! Think of your favorite pizza toppings and make a fun poem to remember them. For example, “Pepperoni, cheese, and olives, please!” Share your poem with your friends or family and see if they can remember it too. This activity encourages creativity and helps you practice making rhymes just like Pinky did.

In this story, I’m excited to have my grandsons Noah and Nilo help me read “Pizza Pie Snowman” by Valerie Gorbachev.
Pinky had a job to do for Mommy: to get a pizza with all their favorite toppings. He made a poem so he wouldn’t forget: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas.
All of a sudden, a snowball hit Pinky on the head! Pinky’s friends, the squirrel boys, were throwing snowballs from their tree. “Play with us!” they said.
Pinky replied, “I’m getting a pizza for my mommy: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas.” But the squirrel boys weren’t listening. Bop! Another snowball hit Pinky on the head.
“Stop!” Pinky shouted, and he kicked the tree with all his might. The tree shook, and snow fell, covering Pinky from top to bottom. But Pinky didn’t notice; he had other things on his mind: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas.
Down the road, the skunk sisters were building a snowman. “What does she mean?” Pinky wondered, but he was in too much of a rush to find out.
On Main Street, Pinky saw Mr. and Mrs. Wagner and their boy Ben. He saw Mrs. Schnauzer and Mr. Mutton; all of them were abuzz with excitement. “A walking snowman!” he heard them say.
Pinky turned the corner and heard again, “A walking snowman!” Pinky looked all around him. Where? Outside the bakery, Mr. Withers, Miss Muzzle, Mr. Digger, and Eve, along with the baker himself, were talking about the snowman.
In front of the pharmacy, Officer Barker reported the walking snowman to headquarters. Pinky wanted to see the snowman too, but he didn’t have a moment to spare. He had reached the pizzeria at last.
Pinky rushed in and shouted, “Mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas!” One of the Coniglio twins was so startled he dropped his dishes.
“A walking snowman!” Pinky didn’t even notice. “Mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas!” Mr. Coniglio laughed.
A pizza by a snowman? Recognizing the little pink snout, Mr. Coniglio went to the kitchen to make Pinky’s pizza. While Pinky waited in the warm room, the snow that surrounded him started to melt. By the time the pizza was ready, the snowman was all gone, and a wet little boy stood in its place.
Pinky ran as fast as a small boy with a large pizza could. “Did you see the walking snowman?” asked Mr. Mutt as Pinky went by.
Home in a flash, Pinky proudly delivered the pizza to Mommy. It had mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, peas, and it was still hot.
After their delicious lunch, Pinky and Mommy took a stroll into town. They wanted to see the walking snowman too. Pinky was able to remember all the toppings, but he never got to see the walking snowman. Why do you think that was? Hmm, because he was the walking snowman, wasn’t he?
I hope you enjoyed our story today. Thank you for reading with me! See you next time!
