Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to have a fun story time together. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
Our storytellers today are Ryan Legaia and Craig Tobey. They love reading stories and sharing them with you!
The book we’re going to read is called “Corduroy.” It was written by Don Freeman. Have you heard of Corduroy before? He’s a very special bear!
Corduroy is a cute little teddy bear who lives in a big store. He wears green overalls, but oh no! One of his buttons is missing. Corduroy wants to find his missing button so he can be perfect for someone to take home.
In the story, Corduroy goes on an adventure around the store to find his button. He explores different places and meets new friends. It’s so exciting to see where Corduroy goes and what he discovers!
As we read about Corduroy’s adventure, we can learn about being brave and curious. Corduroy teaches us that it’s okay to explore and try new things. We can also learn about friendship and how important it is to help each other.
Are you ready to join Corduroy on his adventure? Let’s use our imagination and have fun together as we read this wonderful story. Remember, every story is a new adventure waiting for us!
Thank you for joining us for story time. We hope you enjoy “Corduroy” and have a great time exploring with him!
Button Hunt Adventure: Just like Corduroy went on an adventure to find his missing button, let’s go on a button hunt! Gather some buttons and hide them around a room or outdoor area. Ask the children to find as many buttons as they can. After the hunt, talk about how they felt during the search and what strategies they used to find the buttons. This activity encourages observation and problem-solving skills.
Create Your Own Corduroy Story: Encourage the children to use their imagination to create their own adventure story for Corduroy. Provide them with paper, crayons, and markers to draw and write about a new place Corduroy might explore. Ask them questions like, “Where does Corduroy go next?” and “Who does he meet?” This activity helps develop creativity and storytelling skills.
Friendship Circle: Discuss with the children what it means to be a good friend, just like Corduroy learns about friendship in his story. Sit in a circle and take turns sharing one way they can help a friend or show kindness. This activity fosters social skills and empathy.
