Hi there! I’m so happy you’re here to read with me. Are you ready for a fun story? Today, we’re going to meet a special frog named Finn. Finn is not like other frogs because he loves everything to be super clean! Let’s see if he can keep his book spotless. Ready? Let’s start reading!
This story is called “This Book is Perfect,” written by Ron Keres and illustrated by Arthur Lin. Finn the Frog is here to say hello! Finn’s book is the cleanest book you’ll ever see. Some people even say it’s perfect, but Finn doesn’t like to brag. Most frogs are a bit messy, but not Finn! He’s the tidiest frog around. Are you ready to see his clean book? Let’s turn the page!
Oh no! Are you eating snacks while reading Finn’s book? Finn says, “No snacks while reading, please!” Make sure to wipe your hands so the book stays clean. Sticky things can make a big mess, and Finn wants his book to stay nice and neat.
Oh dear, Finn’s mop isn’t working! There are fingerprints and sticky spots everywhere. Finn is worried. He wants his book to be perfect, but now it’s messy. What can he do?
Wait a minute! The mess is attracting flies! Finn doesn’t like flies on his book. How can he get rid of them? Maybe a vacuum cleaner could help, but smashing them would make an even bigger mess!
Finn remembers how yummy snacks can be. Maybe the mess isn’t so bad after all. Without the mess, Finn wouldn’t have found these tasty treats. Sometimes, a little mess can lead to something fun!
And that’s the end of our story! Finn learned that even if things get messy, it can still be okay. I hope you enjoyed reading with me today. See you next time for another fun story!
Clean-Up Detective: Just like Finn, you can be a clean-up detective! Look around your classroom or home and find one area that could use a little tidying up. Use a cloth or a small broom to clean it. After cleaning, think about how it feels to have a clean space. Does it make you feel happy like Finn?
Snack Time Experiment: Have a snack time where you try eating with clean hands and then with sticky hands (using safe, washable paint or a similar substance). Notice the difference in how things feel and how easy or hard it is to keep your area clean. Discuss with your friends or family why Finn might prefer clean hands when reading his book.
Messy Art Fun: Create a piece of art using finger paints or crayons. Don’t worry about making a mess! Afterward, talk about how sometimes making a mess can lead to beautiful creations, just like Finn discovered with his tasty surprise. What did you enjoy about making your art?
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

This book is perfect, written by Ron Caris and illustrated by Arthur Lynn.
Oh, hello there! I’m Finn the Frog, and this, my friend, is the cleanest book you will ever see. Some even say that it’s perfect, but I don’t really like to brag. I know, I know, most frogs are slimy and dirty, but not me—no way! You see, I’m the tidiest frog you’ll ever meet. I think you’re going to be quite impressed with what you’re about to see. Now then, shall we begin? Go on, turn the page.
What is on your fingers? Are you eating snacks while reading my book? What are you thinking? You can’t eat snacks while reading this book! Wipe your hands and put that snack away right now. That’s better! A little elbow grease goes a long way when keeping things neat, you know? And after all, it could have been worse—it could have been something sticky!
Listen, if there is anything you’ve got to know in life, it’s this: sticky things always make a mess. These pages are supposed to be clean, not stained. This is not good!
Oh no, this mop is worthless against such a mess! First, the fingerprints, now this! I swear this day couldn’t get any worse. What have you done? This is a nightmare! It has to be any minute now I’m going to wake up and find out that there is nothing stuck on my page. It will be fine, really!
Breathe, Finn, breathe. Oh, there must be something I can use to get that sticky thing off my book. Mayday, mayday! This is not a drill! My page is ripping! This is a disaster! I was so excited to show you my book, but now it is ruined forever.
Maybe you should just close the book and end my misery. Wait, don’t close the book! Do you see what I see? This mess is attracting flies! Don’t you know those tiny troublemakers can be a nuisance?
Oh no, that fly just landed on my book! Think, Finn, think! How does one get rid of flies? I wonder if my vacuum has a turbo mode for sucking up flies. No, don’t smash it! Do you have any idea the kind of mess that would leave behind?
There’s got to be another way. Why are you looking at me? What do you expect me to do? Oh right, I almost forgot how good those snacks taste! You know, I still believe cleanliness is the best policy, but maybe this mess wasn’t so terrible after all.
Come to think of it, without your help, I never would have gotten these tasty snacks! And besides, if I can’t live with a little mess, I can always turn the page.
Perfect! If it hadn’t been for the mess in the book, Finn never would have had his delicious snack. I hope you enjoyed our story today. See you next time!
